With Asia Fruit Logistica returning to its long-standing location in Hong Kong, the BayWa Global Produce family is looking forward to welcoming its customers, partners and global team at their joint presentation in hall 5. This year, the stand holds some surprising features for its visitors, allowing for an interactive experience of the premium apple brands Envy™ and JAZZ™.

With Asia remaining the world’s fastest growing market for fresh produce, the team consisting of BayWa Global Produce, T&G Global, Venturefruit®, TFC Holland and BayWa Obst is looking forward to reconnecting in person with existing and prospective customers and to extending its existing global network.

“Asia is a key growth market for us”, says Benedikt Mangold, Chief Executive officer of BayWa Global Produce and Chair of T&G Global. “We see significant increasing demand for our attractive apples from various growing regions in Europe, America and New Zealand, including our premium Envy™ brand.”

Extensive investments in operational infrastructure

Despite the challenging environment and devastating weather event in New Zealand earlier this year, BayWa Global Produce has extensively invested in the operational infrastructure of its subsidiaries T&G Global, TFC Holland and BayWa Obst, increasing the resilience, capacity and performance of its global business allowing for a future-proof positioning. The largest investment is T&G’s award-winning world-class automated Whakatu packhouse in New Zealand’s Hawke’s Bay, which was commissioned in May. T&G Global Chief Executive Officer Gareth Edgecombe says: “Innovation is critical to our business and the future of our sector and economy. This state-of-the-art post-harvest facility will be instrumental in enabling us to manage increased volume growth, lift productivity and underpin our future apple export growth from the region.”

Two new apple varieties commercially launched

Innovating and delivering new plant genetics with better growing capacity and improved consumer attributes, is a key pillar in BayWa Global Produces’ business strategy allowing for an attractive, future-oriented variety portfolio. With Venturefruit®, T&G’s IP management and commercialisation business, two new apple varieties were commercially launched earlier this year, helping the group to win in key global markets and to strengthen its market position.
